DECEMBER, 2019
This week’s guest happens to be my best friend. We’ve known each other since we were in College where a mutual friend introduced us; and we have been together ever since. She’s a small town girl from Hannibal, MO and I was from the big city of Detroit, MI. During college she had a part time job working in a bank and because she actually had her own desk, I was impressed (I’m easy). But I could tell early on she had many goals in life and business.
This amazing person is my wife, aka Dr. Starla Ivey. Dr. Ivey is a professor and worked as an assistant teaching professor in the Personal Financial Planning Department at the University of Missouri (Mizzou) for over 13 years. She taught the Personal and Family Finance course in the undergraduate program and handled undergraduate curriculum. She’s also taught at Oklahoma State University.
She has both her BS and MS in Personal Financial Planning (Consumer and Family Economics) and a PhD in Human Resource Education; all from the University of Missouri. Before working as an assistant teaching professor, she worked several years as an educational technology specialist and a recruitment and retention specialist at the collegiate level. She has also worked for State Farm Mutual Insurance, Shelter Insurance, the State of Missouri – Department of Corrections – Accounting Department, and also the Missouri Division of Highway Safety.
She made me the luckiest man by marrying me, and we have two beautiful daughters, Paisli and Serena. I know I’m biased, but she’s got to be my favorite guest so far on the podcast!
