Guest Highlight: Derek Lege

DECEMBER, 2019
I was first introduced to Coach Derek Lege through and Antwan Floyd who was a former assistant Strength Coach. We were looking to hire a graduate assistant in the weight room and Derek’s background as a former student athlete was the perfect fit. What stood out to me about Coach Lege was his tenacity to learn and be the best person he could be. He was fascinated with being a great coach and being financially independent. He spent all of his free time studying strength and conditioning and the Stock Market.
Coach Lege has a passion for teaching others lessons he has learned. He has a gift for connecting with people and getting the most out of them. When people talk about the grind, some just talk and some just do it. Coach Lege gets it and does it! He is not much for fluff and doesn’t beat around the bush. He is authentic and real as they come.

Derek Legé, Jr. is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is a graduate from Ball High School in Galveston, Texas. He earned his Bachelor’s degree at Texas Southern University in Health Science. He continued his passion for strength and conditioning at the University of Missouri as a Graduate Assistant while obtaining a Master’s degree in Education in Counseling, Education, and Sport Psychology.

Coach Legé spent four years at the New Mexico State University as an Assistant Director of Sports Performance and the Director of Nutrition and Student Life Wellness. He currently stands as the Director of Athletic Performance at the University of Texas at Tyler. The past 10 years, his interest has continued to grow in personal development, finance, investing, and money management.

He is happily married to Angel Legé of five years and with four children; Torri (11), Derek (9), Amyah (8), and Amiah(8). If you’re interested in connecting with him, you can find Coach Legé on Twitter.
